I've been through many club memberships in the past few years - starting out strong then hardly visiting the gym at all - and found a decision I made to purchase a decent elliptical machine really helped out my motivation. (I feel like I have to get my money's worth when I see it sitting right there in the home office.) Unfortunately, my life has made some twists and turns over the past 12 months and the elliptical machine has been pretty lonely. Thus, I've gained back the 30 lbs. I promised myself would never come back. Ugg!

Good news though, I have been using the machine again, slowly at first - 20 minute sessions soon to be 40 minute sessions - and it feels good to be back. When I consistently use the elliptical machine, my diet is much more strict - eating right and exercising go hand in hand for me. I don't reward myself with a big meal the day I get a good workout in. So this weight will come off - just have to keep going, keep going!

Thanks Dave - good luck with your journey. I really enjoy the way I feel when I have 30 less pounds on me, don't you think that would be motivation enough? No. It's time to get re-energized. I have been using the elliptical from time to time but need to get regular and tackle more intense workouts. As you know, your body can get programmed to the same workout and not get as much out of it. So a little variety is needed.

This post was back in November. Sounds like were similar in the elliptical and eating. I just dusted my elliptical off today and sent you a friend request here. Hope it's going well. If not, well, maybe we can be collectively encouraging. I turn 45 in about 10 days and don't need to be hauling all this baggage. Keep going!
