Twit2Fit is squarely behind Fasil Bizuneh, one of our members and a premium content provider for us the last month or so, as he competes in the U.S. Men's Marathon Championships, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 as part of the
I have a confession to make. It's not one that will surprise you since you can see from my posts and activity on Twit2Fit that I haven't been actively participating in this wonderful community I started for a while.
I dropped the ball. I failed myself. I failed my health. I failed you.
I'm sorry.
There are a lot of reasons I'm pushing myself back to Twit2Fit. The most important of them, no offense, is to continually remind myself I need to eat better, practice self care, exercise and more. Th… Continue
You knew this was going to happen, right? The folks at Quaker know how to keep the momentum and exposure going. Here's a coupon for Twit2Fit users for $1.00 off two packages of oats. (And you thought I never gave you nuthin' ... heh.)

I was going to post a neat video from last weekend's Quaker Oats Living Proof blogger weekend of Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard's Oat Pancake recipe. Unfortunately, the show-and-tell was done in the cafeteria area at Quaker headquarters and the radio was playing in the background so you can't hear much. But, she sent us the recipe, too, so here it is for all interested:
PANCAKESIngredients
3 bananas
1/2 c milk
1/2 t vanilla
1/2 c ground oats
3/4 c oats
1/2 c whole wheat flour

Saturday I joined 15 other bloggers for a day of learning and fun at Quaker Oats headquarters in Chicago. There really was so much information and learning that happened that one blog post here can’t do it justice. But for the sake of recapping it all, here’s a report:

The votes are in and the wife and mother-in-law are blowing up my kitchen making these yummy recipes. Good thing I’ve got plenty of oatmeal to go around.
Let’s recap:
We have four Quaker Oats care packages, like the one I received from the brand, for winners of a contest here on Twit2Fit. Keeping in line with both oatmeal and our support for one another in sharing information and encouragement, I decided oatmeal-based recipes would be the contest and my wife and mother-in-law would judge. (The… Continue
I've officially sent the recipes off to the judges (my wife and mother-in-law) in the first-ever Twit2Fit.com contest, thanks to Quaker Oats. The seven entries will be ranked based on taste and nutritional value, though neither are dietitians so the latter will be based on assumptions. I've given them the base instruction of measuring the recipes by asking themselves, "Which of these would I be excited to try."
We are not actually making any of the recipes unless there is some difficulty in ran… Continue

Next weekend, I go to Chicago on your behalf to visit Quaker Oats and learn more about how they do what they do and how it can help all of us stay focused on fitness and wellness. But I'm not the only blogger going. Below is a list of some great folks who are pumping out fantastic content about diet, exercise, wellness, recipes, nutrition and more. Well worth your time to dive in and check them out.
I do believe I'll be the only guy there, but that's fine by me. (Rough job, I know.) I'll not on… Continue
The fine folks at Quaker Oats have offered to provide care packages, identical to the one I received to try and showed off on a previous post, to four lucky Twit2Fit.com members. The only catch is they left the contest up to me to decide who gets them. So here's what we're going to do:
So to recap: Post your entry (Limit one, so pick your best first. Any… Continue

Well, this morning was the big test for the Quaker Oats folks. Would I like oatmeal out of the box. With a cameo appearance from both my children, here's the evidence with a nice little hint at a contest to come:

I've been asked to participate in a program for bloggers run by Quaker Oats. I'm pretty certain it's not because of my work on SocialMediaExplorer.com. So, thanks to all of you for helping build Twit2Fit to fruition. I'm getting boxes of oatmeal now.
Here's the low down:

I've been to the gym twice in the last week. I missed the week before that, too. Work and family have been overwhelming and exhausting and, while I normally shy away from making excuses, they are valid. The major problem is my four-month-old has still not yet made it through the night sle… Continue
Posted this on Friday, but I need to do a better job of letting people see it. Will post as blog entries from now on. Here's a visit to my YMCA with video evidence I'm actually doing this!

Every now and then I hit a place in my walking where I need to take about a week off. Because I've never had problems starting up again, I allow myself this grace. It happens about once or twice a year. No biggie.
