Shin Splints Be Gone

I didn't end up running the Komen Race for the Cure 5k, but I did walk the family 1 mile with my Mom, niece, and boyfriend. I only gave myself a month to train, and it turned into a week... Apparently I'm not the best with time management?

Now I have decided that if I'm going to get back in shape, it has to be because I want to do it or I'm just not going to stick with it. I keep seeing people Tweeting about getting back from their x amount mile runs, and quite frankly, I'm jealous. I want to b… Continue

WooHoo!!! It's Finally Getting Warm!

Since we've been having these 60+ degree days in Indy, I feeling like I'm thawing out...

It's amazing how just the temperature outside can have such a dramatic impact on my motivation! I can't wait til the sand volleyball courts open up again. I'm so ready to get my household and my neighbors back out and active again.

Does anyone else share my state of mind?

Happy New Year!

2008 is over! What a great year it was!

Things on my list to do in 2009:

~Forget about the bad fitness and health decisions we made in 2008. Start fresh and don't look back.
~Revisit goals that were made last year. If they weren't met, try something more feasible.
~Visit the grocery weekly and purchase enough fresh veggies and fruits to last the entire week.
~Put workouts on the calendar and stick to them just as I stick to business appointments.
~Play an active role in at least 3 of my family… Continue

Salsa and Big Butts...

While listening to my iPod, a latin flavored song came on. That prompted me to search YouTube for salsa dancing videos. Salsa and dancing in general are great ways to get some fun exercise. So, I'm posting a few videos. The first is how to get a BIGGER BUTT! :)

The next videos are some salsa dancing videos. If you haven't tried it before, take some lessons. It's a BLAST!!!

Here's an instructional video:… Continue

Thank you again fro the encouragement.

I am in week 5 of my working out and it is going strong. I have never kept up a workout program this long or this strong ever. And I used to be in the Air Force.

I am constantly improving my reps and sets and being able to push harder using kettlebells. When something hurts (not muscle workout aches but real pain), that means my form is wrong. I correct it and my body automatically gets better.

As for my posture, it is getting way better. I used to have this hump at the break of my neck. But because of the nature of the kettlebell swings plus the shoulder workouts (Get Ups, Clean & Presses), my posture is looking great.

How is the workouts coming for you?

Hi Nicki!

I actually got IN to my 8s this week ... step 2 is being able to sit down in them! I joined a bootcamp 6 weeks ago, and do that twice a week, and then do a bunch of random classes (hot yoga, pilates, spinning, etc) on the side. I'm better with exercise than I am with really watching my diet ... but I'm trying! :)

Thanks for the welcome -- glad to be here!!

Glad to be here! Yes my goal of 5 pull-ups is lofty, I've been working at it for awhile and am pretty confident I'm going to hit it this week :)

I've been working with a trainer who keeps me motivated and recently changed my diet to eliminate most of my carbs so I'm now eating mostly protein and veggies, with the occasional slip of vino :)

All in all - its working, results don't come instantly but once you see them - you want more...at least that's how i operate..

feel well on my way to being the "somewhere between toned and ripped me" I want to be :)

Good luck with your goal of looking hot - you were there before so you can get there again and its amazing how great you will feel!

Hi Nicki, Sorry for the delayed answer. I've been spending too much time doing other things. I need to get back to Twit2fit. Committed myself back to Weight Watchers last night.

Colfax, IL is about 25 east of Bloomington/Normal where Illinois State University, State Farm, Country Companies are located. It is where I-39, I-55 and I-74 intersect.

I hope it's warmer in Indiana right now then it has been in Illinois. We are finally out of the negative temperatures.

Probably the Mercedes. It's the only local marathon. I'll have a whole year to train because I'll miss this year's event. It seems every time I start a regimin, I hurt something. I'm not going to give up, though.

Every now and then I hit a place in my walking where I need to take about a week off. Because I've never had problems starting up again, I allow myself this grace. It happens about once or twice a year. No biggie. About a month ago, such a time h...
