Okay, this isn't good. I gained .6 of a pound. This is kind of a little demoralizing... #twit2fit

I love feeling hungry

I used to never feel hungry. I would eat because I was sad. Because I was lonely. Because I was happy. Because I was celebrating. Because the paint on my wall didn't change colors. You get the picture. Because I was always full I was never hungry. And I felt like arse. Now I feel hungry multiple times during the day. Not starving, but little "feed me, please" pangs. It's nice. It means I'm eating the right amount of food. I am metabolizing the way I should. The exercise is paying off and someh… Continue

A week with the Italians

The Italians are my father's family out on Long Island. I love them. They are awesome. They also love to feed me. Rich sauces and pasta and lots of cheeses and desserts. Seven-course family dinners. And it's insulting not to try everything, you know? I'll be there early Thursday morning to Monday afternoon. I already had a bad training week. I took it easy exercise-wise due to not feeling well earlier in the week and my eating sort of reflected that. It wasn't terrible but I ate too many carbs… Continue

Starting up!

Hi Peeps. After a quick discussion with the physician, he recommended I drop a few. So - have thus far reduced carb intake, increased fruit/veggie intake, and stopped late-night dining. Exercise is a bit of a stretch due to incredibly busy schedule that often includes sitting at computer or in car or at appointments - argh! I know it's necessary though. So I do some exercising at home (floor work, some things that have worked to tone before). I'll keep going at it, and hope to lose 20 - 30 lbs o… Continue

Kicking *ss

My big accomplishment last time ("Hey, It's a Start") was ordering clothes in which I can be more active. Today I actually did stuff. Turned on the Olympics, and got to work: I did a 10-minute easy warm up on the elliptical trainer, 20 minutes of exercises/stretch, 30 minutes of cardio (more than I've ever done, ever, I think...) on the elliptical, and 30 minutes of stretching and cooling down. It really does help to make a habit of wearing clothes that make it easy to move. Then there's no "y… Continue

Why are vegetables so hard to eat?

Or is it just me? Carbs - easy to eat. Pasta, rice, potatoes, carrots and corn even- check. Meat - chicken, dairy, fish, Laura's Lean Beef - check. Dairy - cheese - yummmmm. Fruit - apples, pears, grapes, berries, citrus - check. Vegetables - broccoli - yawn. Spinach- not unless it has warm bacon dressing, thanks. Peas - meh. Potato, corn, carrot- I covered these earlier. Are there no other vegetables? Don't answer that, I know there are. Veggies for the picky eater? Veggies everyone can love… Continue
